Meet Chris
Hi, I am Chris Hall. In 2016, I decided to follow my heart into the mountains and the forests of my country and enjoy the peace, tranquility, and true nature of God in these magnificent forests.
I sold everything I owned, bought a truck and an RV, and went off with three dogs to explore America. After nearly 6 years of exploring and looking for my perfect piece of heaven here on earth, I finally found my home here, on Philpott Lake in Bassett, Virginia.
I am a mastered degree geologist and the first woman in the U.S to be hired as a field scientist and not just a secretary in 1974. So it is no surprise that I was drawn to the oldest mountain range. The geology of the area is spectacularly unique. And literally, Goose Point Outpost is located on top of a quartz mountain.
For many reasons, this lake is perfect for a true getaway into nature. It is an Army Corp of Engineers reservoir lake, which restricts having docks or residences on the lake. This results in very clear, beautiful water with no boat traffic to speak of, resulting in outstanding fishing, swimming, and a safe lake where water sports are enjoyed. With a hundred miles of shoreline that you can explore by watercraft or foot trails, you will experience all the serenity nature can offer.
